My happy place
…my happy places are for the most part, worlds of imagination.
Bright, technicolor worlds of magic.
Cowardly lions, talking mice, super-people, all feature heavily.
There are heroes, and villains, and you know which is which.
The good guys always win. The bad guys get their comeuppance.
The hero gets the girl, and they all live happily ever after.
Adventure is around every corner, and home is just a few heel-clicks away.
That’s the world I want to live in.

The entrance to Disneyland. Very much a happy place for me.
I’ve been there a couple of times as a kid, and a couple of times as an adult.
As a kid, it is pure magic.
As an adult, you hear from people “it is crowded, expensive, perhaps even garish. A tourist destination designed to separate you from every last dollar and every last once of sanity.”
Here’s the thing though…
When I pass under that sign on the entryway arch, I’m a kid again.
Pure magic.
